Correspondence, writings, speeches, transcripts of radio shows and testimony, clippings, printed material, and other papers pertaining chiefly to Gottlieb's work with public interest organizations in the fields of disarmament and foreign policy. Documents his years as executive director of the National Committee for a Sane Nuclear Policy, later known as SANE, Inc., (1962-1977), of New Directions (1977-1979), and of United Campuses to Prevent Nuclear War (1984-1987); as radio commentator for "In the Public Interest" (1973-1983); and as television commentator on "America's Defense Monitor" (1992-1993). Also documents his work as union organizer in the 1950s and his meetings with Viet Cong representatives in Europe (1966).
